Boynq WakeUp docks iPods in unusual form

Sound specialist Boynq has announced a new iPod clock stereo with an unusual design. The speakers of the WakeUp actually rest on a corner, the main anchorage of the clock being a three-panel "wall," with each panel containing an LCD displaying time, input channels or the FM radio station in a white tint. The clock can be adjusted through buttons on the side of each panel, or else through an included remote control; bass and treble equalizers are built in, and the satellites put out 10W of RMS power per speaker. iPods are docked on top of one of the panels, which fits Minis, standard 4G, 5G and Classic iPods, all generations of the Nano, and the iPhone as well as the iPod touch.

Devices can be charged and synched at the same time, and other audio sources are supported via line-in.

Cambridge debuts i765 combo iPod stereo system

Cambridge SoundWorks has released a new combination stereo system, the i765. The system is notable mainly for merging several major abilities into the same unit, including AM/FM radio, CD and DVD playback, and iPod docking, arguably the focus of the design. A wide variety of iPods are said to be supported, but the stereo more specifically supports Apple's new Touch, Nano and Classic models. Listeners can control their iPod through the bundled remote, and see track information displayed on the LCD.

Wattage ratings are unpublished, but the company says that a built-in subwoofer should provide more bass than many similar systems. The 765 is somewhat limited in terms of output options, however, as it uses a basic auxiliary sound connection, and composite or S-Video TV jacks. The stereo should be out now at Apple Stores and other locations for $500.

Contour iSee for 3G Nano and Touch

Contour Design recently unveiled the iSee for the third generation iPod nano and the iPod touch, a clear plastic case that offers additional dock connector protection. The iSee features a hinged dock port cover, and a removable, rotating belt clip that has a plug to cover up the mounting holes when the clip is not in use. The iSee for the third generation Nano offers a clear protective film for the touchwheel, and both cases have a second rear case piece so it can have a smooth backing. Contour says that the cases are currently available, with pricing for the Nano case set at $25, and the Touch for $30.
