| 10+1 Questions on Innovation with Bjarne Stroustrup, the Inventor of C++
One of the main driving forces that influenced the introduction of new generation database systems, such as ODBMS, was object-oriented programming (OOP). C++ is notably one of the most important. I had the pleasure of interviewing Bjarne Stroustrup who invented C++. Bjarne Stroustrup is the designer and original implementer of C++ and the author of "The C++ Programming Language" and "The Design and Evolution of C++". His research interests include distributed systems, design, programming techniques, software development tools, and programming languages. He is actively involved in the ANSI/ISO standardization of C++. Dr. Stroustrup is the College of Engineering Chair Professor in Computer Science at Texas A&M University. Broadband touted as economic development strategy in region
Recommendations are made to bring the service to the area. Bringing regional broadband service to the northwest Pennsylvania area as an economic development strategy was the focus of a presentation Wednesday morning for community and business leaders and elected officials from the area. Andrew Cohill, a consultant from Virginia, contracted with the Northwest Pennsylvania Regional Planning and Development Commission to develop a comprehensive set of recommendations and presented his findings during the meeting at Wanango Country Club. Cohill is a broadband architect and has worked with communities across the country as well as abroad. Apple imposes limits on iPhone sales in reseller crackdown
SAN JOSE (California) - APPLE no longer accepts cash for iPhone purchases and now limits sales of the cell phone to two per person in a move to stop people from reselling them. The new policy started on Thursday, said Apple spokesman Natalie Kerris. Before then, there was no cash restriction and the purchase limit was five per person. 'Customer response to the iPhone has been off the charts, and limiting iPhone sales to two per customer helps us ensure that there are enough iPhones for people who are shopping for themselves or buying a gift,' Ms Kerris said. 'We're requiring a credit or debit card for payment to discourage unauthorised resellers.' More than 1.4 million units of the hybrid cell phone-iPod have been sold since it debuted June 29, according to Apple. It is expected to be a popular gift for the holidays.
