| Cambridge debuts i765 combo iPod stereo system
Cambridge SoundWorks has released a new combination stereo system, the i765. The system is notable mainly for merging several major abilities into the same unit, including AM/FM radio, CD and DVD playback, and iPod docking, arguably the focus of the design. A wide variety of iPods are said to be supported, but the stereo more specifically supports Apple's new Touch, Nano and Classic models. Listeners can control their iPod through the bundled remote, and see track information displayed on the LCD. Wattage ratings are unpublished, but the company says that a built-in subwoofer should provide more bass than many similar systems. The 765 is somewhat limited in terms of output options, however, as it uses a basic auxiliary sound connection, and composite or S-Video TV jacks. The stereo should be out now at Apple Stores and other locations for $500.
Apple's latest iPhone software revealed
Apple's updated v.1.1.2 software for the iPod touch and the iPhone is available for download now, as the device goes on sale in Germany and queues form outside Apple retail stores across the UK. The software introduces international language and network support to the iPhone, and the much-desired ability to both add and edit calendar events to the iPod touch. .
Startups roadtests the iPhone
It's been less than a week since Apple launched its eagerly awaited iPhone in the UK. Queues formed outside Apple and O2 stores on Friday evening as consumers and business owners alike clambered for the chance to get their hands on what has been dubbed by some techno geeks as ‘The Jesus phone', for its supposed divine combination of touch screen, wi-fi online capabilities, fully-fledged video ipod and yep, you guessed it – a phone. But is this just a gadget-crazed consumer's dream come true? What can it offer the average small business owner? And can it topple the mighty Blackberry off its business communications perch? I managed to get hold of one to find out what all the fuss it about, and here's what I thought: Within five minutes of playing around with the iPhone it's clear that this is like no other device I've ever used.
